Stephen King weighs in on the big screen adaptation of ‘The Dark Tower’

It seems that even Stephen King is excited for the big screen adaptation of his eight-book dark fantasy series "The Dark Tower."

In an extended sneak peek released on Tuesday, the novelist shared: "The Dark Tower has always been really important to me and to see the Gunslinger come to life in film with Idris Elba is really incredible."

Aside from Elba's performance as the last gunslinger Roland Deschain, fans are also waiting to see Matthew McConaughey's interpretation of the Man in Black, Walter O’Dim.

“The Dark Tower” is based on Stephen King’s series of novels centering on the last “gunslinger” and his attempts to prevent the destruction of the Dark Tower – the magical structure that links the various universes of the author’s multiverse together. The first entry in the series, “The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger” was published in 1982, while the eighth, “The Dark Tower: The Wind Through the Keyhole” was published in 2012.

Joining Elba and McConaughey are Tom Taylor, Abbey Lee, Fran Kranz, Jackie Earle Haley, Katheryn Winnick, and Claudia Kim.

The Dark Tower is distributed by Columbia Pictures and is set to open in Philippine cinemas on August 30. — AT, GMA News
