First photos of Amber Heard as Mera in ‘Aquaman’ released

As the world prepares for the arrival of “Wonder Woman” this June and the union of the world’s greatest heroes in the “Justice League” before the end of the year, Warner Bros. and director James Wan are busy preparing for the next installment in the DC Extended Universe next year, “Aquaman.”

The film puts the spotlight on the titular hero of the DC Universe, played by former “Game of Thrones” TV star Jason Momoa. Joining him in the film will be Amber Heard, who will play Aquaman / Arthur Curry’s love interest and future wife Mera.

As production is currently underway in Australia, Warner Bros. has released the very first photo of Mera as she’ll appear in “Aquaman.” Heard is seen standing proudly as the sea queen.

The American actress shared the photo in her official Twitter page.

Before she headlines and stars in "Aquaman" next year, Amber Heard will be making her debut as Mera in “Justice League”, which is directed by Zack Snyder and sees Ben Affleck’s Batman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman recruiting a team of metahumans to help save our planet.

Among them is Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry, and with his world of Atlantis said to feature prominently in the upcoming film, Mera could easily be marching to the front line to help him fight off the enemies attacking Earth. 

"Justice League" will be released this November, while "Aquaman" will be released on December 2018. — AT, GMA News
