De Lima's son Israel holds exhibit with half-brother Michael
Half-brothers Israel and Michael Bohol on February 11 opened to the public "My Art, My Brother, and I." The exhibit is a showcase of the pieces they worked on since they began studying at the Young Artists' Studio (YAS), with works dating back to 2012.
Israel's mother, Senator Leila de Lima, attended the opening night of the show. A portrait of hers done by Israel hangs near his recreation of Vincent Van Gogh's "The Starry Night."
Israel, 13, is on the autism spectrum and is one of De Lima's two children with lawyer Plaridel Bohol. Michael is Bohol's child with his second wife.
"My Art, My Brother, and I" includes sketch studies, works on still life, and portraits. Sculptures of fish, pizza, dinosaurs, and Digimon are also on display. The brothers' progress can clearly be seen as one moves around the small gallery.
From Tyrannosaurus Rex drawn with markers to acrylic work on Zebras, "My Art, My Brother, and I" is, more than anything, a showcase of growth.
"My Art, My Brother, and I" will run until February 19 at Galerie Y, 4/F SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City. —ALG/BM, GMA News
