Christmas traditions and celebrations all over the world

When an attacker drove a truck into a Christmas market in Berlin on Monday evening, killing a dozen people, he targeted a beloved tradition in Europe. The Christmas market is a familiar sight throughout the continent for the four weeks of Advent, and for many Europeans it's as important an event on their calendar as the Simbang Gabi and Noche Buena are to us.

After the attack, Berliners and tourists alike were determined not to let terror defeat them, saying that staying away from the season's festivities would let terror win.

Fear will never win against the indomitability of the human spirit, and hate will never overcome love. Keep that in mind as you view these scenes of Christmas cheer all over the world, from Pakistan to the US, from Belarus to France, from a Caracas slum to a beach in Australia. Merry Christmas!
