CW’s scifi opus “The 100” has come a long way. From a show about ridiculously good-looking teenagers sent to a post-apocalyptic Earth to die, it has transformed into a show about ridiculously good-looking teenagers engaging in complex politicking and mass-murdering mayhem. All that, and they still find time to have hot, steamy cave sex despite not having bathed in months. Sticky!
The first trailer for the fourth season of “The 100” reminds us of how season 3 ended: with countless nuclear power plants worldwide melting down, heralding the coming of a second apocalypse – an end-of-days event even more catastrophic than the last, as it’ll render 96% of the Earth’s surface totally unlivable within 6 months. You know what that means: more dead puppies and kittens. Thanks for nothing, Clarke!
The global nuclear meltdowns will be the main problem Clarke and her friends will have to tackle in Season 4. Not to mention they’ll be dealing with the symptoms of the apocalypse, such as black rain (which must be a major pain on laundry day), and pre-cancerous lesions (which will probably be a huge cause for concern for these unfairly photogenic youngsters).
Pivotal events in the last season will, of course, mean drastic changes to the major characters. Our sweet, naïve Octavia is now being called “Sky Ripper” – likely in reference to her newfound talent of stabbing people in the gut and not feeling guilty about creating widows and orphans. Oh, these precious kids; they sure do grow up fast!
And let’s not forget the death of a certain love interest that not only created a power vacuum among the Grounders, but has probably left Clarke feeling so blue, she balls her fists every time she recalls that fated day.
The official synopsis for season 4 reads:
“For three seasons, The 100 have fought to survive. That fight has torn them apart, turned them against each other, and taken the lives of their closest friends. In season three, our heroes found themselves at the epicenters of both the Grounder world and the struggle for Arkadia’s soul. Despite their best efforts, all-out war appeared unavoidable until a new, even more dangerous threat, one that had been quietly rising all along, exploded to the surface: ALIE, the A.I. that ended the world, offered relief from pain and eternal life in the ‘City of Light,’ but as her ranks grew, it quickly became clear that she was building an army dedicated to controlling all sentient life on Earth. This was no longer a battle between warring factions; it was a fight for humanity itself. Now, in the wake of the epic season three finale, a hard truth lands on the shoulders of those who remain. What’s left to fight for now? Will they go quietly into the night, or will they find hope and faith in each other, as they face their darkest chapter yet?”
Season 4 of “The 100” will see the return of pretty girls and boys Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor), Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley), Octavia Blake (Marie Avgeropoulos), Raven Reyes (Lindsey Morgan), Jasper Jordan (Devon Bostick), Monty Green (Christopher Larkin), Abby Griffin (Paige Turco), John Murphy (Richard Harmon), Marcus Kane (Henry Ian Cusick), and Thelonious Jaha (Isaiah Washington).
It will start on February 1, 2017. — BM, GMA News
