Heart Evangelista on painting on Hermès bags: ‘It’s a safe investment’
Kapuso star Heart Evangelista is undeniably one of the most beautiful and talented actresses in the industry, but she has also been making a mark in the field of art.
Two years since her first art exhibit, Heart has gone on to launch a beauty book and a make-up collaboration, and she has also successfully made designer dresses and luxury bags her personal canvas.
Last January, the actress and designer Mark Bumgarner collaborated on a collection of hand-painted dresses.
Just this month, she launched her launched "Carry Your HeART," an exhibit of her hand-painted designer bags.

The actress admits to being picky when it comes to the bag she puts her art on.
Her favorite? No less than the high-end brand Hermès, which occupies more than half of her bag collection.
"As a starting artist, it's important where you put your paintings. It's a strategy. With Hermès bags, you can auction them out in Europe. The value goes up. It's a safe investment," she said in an interview with members of the press on Monday.
Heart's handbag art is not just a smart business strategy; it can be used to add value to damaged bags. She once had to paint on a limited edition lizard-skin designer bag because it had gotten splattered with cooking oil.
"There are bags na parang wasak na, pero if you paint on it, it looks brand-new," she said. "Madami akong clients na damaged na ang bags, tapos pinapa-paint sa akin. Kapag dinala mo kasi 'yun sa Hermès, it will take you a year before you get it back."
"Sa ibang leather doctors naman, kapag doon mo pinagawa, hindi na tatanggapin sa Hermès in the future. Sa akin, mga five months lang [tapos na]!" she added.
Because of her work, Heart has been dubbed as an "Hermès savior."
The actress is thankful that the ritzy retailer from France is nothing but supportive of her art.
She said, "They're very supportive. Last year, I did a workshop for them on silk tying with their clients. They invited everyone. Super supportive talaga sila, and I'm very grateful."
This October, she is set to fly to Paris for a collaboration with a Parisian brand.
