Tito, Vic and Joey featured in Filipino mural in Chicago Museum
Filipino showbiz icons Tito, Vic, and Joey were featured in a collaborative mural painted by 10 artists — five Filipino and five Filipino-American — at The Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois.
Themed "Portrait of the Object as a Filipino," the work featured Filipino cultural imagery such as the Igorot, the wooden spoon and fork, the balangay, and the late comedy king Dolphy.
The image of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon was painted by Florentino Impas, Jr.
"Sobrang saya, kasi hindi ko akalain na makapunta ako dito sa Amerika," said Impas about the project.
Other artists who participated in the project were Cesar Conde, Jason Moss, Jen Buckler, Othoniel Neri, Emmanuel Garibay, Trisha Martin, Leonardo Aguinaldo, Elisa Boughner, and Joel Javier.
The mural dubbed "Deconstructing Filipino" was unveiled on November 7 in a ceremony led by project director Dr. Almira Astudillo Gilles.
De Leon shared a screen grab of the image on his Twitter account.
