‘Defining Quirino’: Exhibit showcases 6th President’s life, work
An exhibit highlighting the legacy of the Philippines' sixth President is currently open to the public at Ayala Museum.
"Defining Quirino" is part of a series of events and programs lined up to honor Elpidio Quirino in 2015, the 125th year since his birth. It features static and interactive displays, including a wall of 125 portraits of Quirino created by artists, friends and family members during a recent painting session hosted by the museum and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
These are displayed along with a portrait of Quirino painted by Fernando Amorsolo and a sculpture by Guillermo Tolentino.
Interactive elements include a Digital Guest Book, where visitors can digitally color the Mga Kwentong Quirino comics; Samsung TVs and mobile devices on which they can flip through old photographs or watch one of the president's State of the Nation Addresses.
The exhibit also includes presidential papers, memorabilia and photographs provided by the President Elpidio Quirino Foundation and the Filipinas Heritage Library.
“By showing significant moments of his journey from teacher to president, we hope to tell how President Quirino embodied a true spirit of patriotism, and to inspire visitors to be compassionate Filipinos themselves,” said Quirino Foundation president Allele Angela Quirino. — BM, GMA News
"Defining Quirino" is on exhibit at the Ayala Museum until November 28.
Ayala Museum (759-8288) is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is currently closed due to APEC, but regular museum operations will resume on November 20.
