‘Sarong Banggi’ mixes ballet with classic folk songs

Classic folk songs became the inspiration for "Sarong Banggi," Ballet Philippines' new production.

The ballet, which ran from October 16 to 18 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines' (CCP) Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo, featured dances choreographed by Carissa Adea, Ronelson Yadao, Cyril Aran Fallar, Paul Alexander Morales, Nonoy Froilan, and Carlo Pacis, all set to music arranged and orchestrated by Maestro Ryan Cayabyab.

The costumes were designed by Rajo Laurel using fabric sourced by Habi: the Philippine Textile Council—resulting in a production that featured truly Pinoy songs, dance and even fashion.
