Stars’ success secrets revealed in Noel Ferrer book
By EARL VICTOR L. ROSERO, GMA News
Insights on how the Philippines' brightest stars achieved success fill the new book, “Sisikat Din Ako!: Your Guide to Making Your Mark In Show Business”, of Noel Ferrer, one of the industry's top talent managers.
Ferrer, along with his team of collaborating writers, contributors and Anvil Publishing, launched “Sisikat Din Ako!" Saturday during the 36th Manila International Book Fair in Pasay City.
Star-studded was the book launch with the presence of Ryan Agoncillo, Iza Calzado, Christopher de Leon, Sandy Andolong, director Jose Javier Reyes, director-actor Rowell Santiago, Martin Nievera, and The Company.
National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbera, Senator Bam Aquino and Atty. Eugenio “Toto” Villareal, chairman of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), were also at the launch.

Ferrer and Anvil Publishing also paid tribute to “Kuya Germs” German Moreno, “Mother Lily” Lily Yu Monteverde, “Boss Vic” Vic del Rosario, “Mr. M” Johnny Manahan, and “Mr. T.” Tony Tuviera for their contributions to Philippine show business.
The book is a “passion project,” Ferrer said, and is his thanksgiving offering to mark his 25 years in show business as a talent manager, writer, and confidante of the stars.
It is meant to guide artists, aspiring stars, talent managers, talent scouts, and any one else who happens to be interested in the inner and behind-the-scenes workings of show business.
Among the GMA Network Kapuso stars featured in “Sisikat Din Ako!” are Dingdong Dantes, Judy Ann Santos, Mark Herras, Aljur Abrenica, Jericho Rosales, Edgar Allan Guzman, Sarah Lahbati, and Regine Velasquez.
The book also tackles the impact of social media, online media and reality TV on how stars are made and sometimes unmade.
An important section of the book is Appendix D: A Star's Worksheet, which has matrices that will compel the artist to reflect on his or her strengths, weaknesses and strategies.
Ferrer said it took their team eight months to work on the project—with two months on the actual printing to the near photo finish.
Ferrer also said a Filipino version is in the works “so that more Filipinos could learn from the book.” The Filipino version is slated for release within the next few months. —KG, GMA News
