GMA News TV’s Cine Totoo to screen documentaries in September

For its inaugural run, GMA News TV's international documentary film festival Cine Totoo will screen 11 films from September 24 to 30 at the SM Megamall, SM Manila, and Trinoma Mall cinemas.
The films are the works of 11 independent filmmakers from across the Philippines. “We are excited to share the films of this talented batch of filmmakers. They each offer a unique and interesting insight into the contemporary Filipino experience,” said festival director Joseph Israel Laban in a statement.
In no order, the films are:
“Walang Rape sa Bontok” (Carla Ocampo) - two Filipinas who had been sexually abused search for a haven where women can live without fear of more abuse.
“Mananayaw” (Rafael Froilan) - the current generation of male ballet dancers takes center stage.
“Gitaristang Hindi Marunong Mag-skala” (Sigfried Barros-Sanchez) - looks at underrated, talented ex-Jerks lead guitarist Nitoy Adriano.
“Ang Walang Kapagurang Paglalakbay ng Pulang Maleta” (Richard Legaspi) - a close-knit Filipino community thrives in the town of Biella, Italy.
“Gusto Nang Umuwi ni Joy” (Jan Tristan Pandy) - an undocumented Filipina in the UK tries to secure legal status so that she can return to the Philippines to visit her family.

“A Journey to Haifa” (Nawruz Paguidopon) - openly gay filmmaker Paguidopon goes on a religious pilgrimage to Haifa, Israel.
“Kung Giunsa Pagbuhat ang Bisayang Chopsuey” (Charliebebs Gohetia) - Tchoukball players from Davao City get ready for an international tournament.
“Migkahi E Si Amey Te, ‘Uli Ki Pad…’” (Nef Luczon) - a Bukidnon tribe deals with the death of their chieftain and the issue of succession.
“Marciano” (Ivy Universe Baldoza) - the life of a gay overseas Pinoy in Paris is pieced together through stories of his friends, relatives and even strangers.
“Komikero Chronicles” (Keith Sicat) - the evolution of komiks into an art form Filipinos can be proud of. — BM, GMA News
