Purefoods completes Philippine Cup q'finals cast


Purefoods clinched the last outright quarterfinals ticket in the KFC-PBA Philippine Cup with an 88-78 trouncing of Sta. Lucia Friday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City. Led by James Yap’s game-high 19 points, the Giants trailed early in the first period but never let the outcome of the game in doubt the moment they seized momentum beginning in the second period.

With the win, the Giants (12-6) finally completed the quarterfinal cast already made up of Barangay Ginebra (12-6) and defending champion Talk ‘N Text (11-7). Already in the semis are Alaska (13-5) and San Miguel (13-5). The loss relegated the Realtors to the knockout wild card phase that will be played Sunday also at the same playing venue in Antipolo City. They will meet the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the 4 p.m. opening game while the Coca-Cola Tigers slug it out with the Burger King Whopper at 6:30 p.m. in the other wild card pairing. – GMANews.TV
