Taragis’ owner apologizes over April Fools’ Day post, gives P100K to netizen who had logo tattooed on forehead
Not only did Taragis owner Carl Quion apologize for the April Fools’ Day prank they ran on the takoyaki brand's Facebook page, Quion also personally visited the netizen who took their prank seriously and gave him P100,000 in cash.
As Taragis deleted their April Fool's day social media post, it posted a Facebook video that showed Quion going to the house of the freshly inked netizen to personally give the P100,000 cash and other peace offerings.
According to the netizen, he didn’t see the disclaimer of Taragis on the post. He explained he went to get a tattoo because he needed the prize money for his youngest child’s tuition, as well as for his 16-year-old kid who has Down Syndrome.
“Unexpected lahat nang nangyari. Ito may anak pala si tatay na may special na karamdaman,” Quion said in the video.
“Kumbaga, yung April Fools’ Day na post namin, naging daan pa para makilala ko siya at kahit papaano, may napasaya kaming bata,” he added.
Quion said he didn’t intend to harm other people through Taragis’ April Fools’ Day prank.
“Kaya sa mga nagkaroon ng negatibong pananaw sa naging April Fools’ post namin, humihingi ako ng tawad,” he said.
“At sana magsilbing aral ito sa ating lahat, lalo na sa mga kapwa influencers ko o brand na nasa internet na maging responsable tayo sa lahat ng ina-upload natin,” he added.
While the netizen refused to get his new tattoo removed, Quion left him an outstanding offer. "Sabihin mo lang 'tol kung anong desisyon mo. Pwede tayo humanap ng derma na mag-le-laser niyan para matanggal."
On April Fool's Day, Taragis ran a prank that said it will give P100,000 to netizens who will have its logo tattooed on their forehead.
A netizen took the challenge seriously, commenting on the April Fools' Day post with a photo of himself getting inked.
Netizens have mixed reactions to the viral prank, with some defending the brand, while others saying Taragis has to be held accountable for the netizen.
