Miss Universe El Salvador issues statement: 'We accidentally mixed up the names of two finalists'

Miss Universe 2023 El Salvador.

Miss Universe El Salvador took to Instagram to apologize for a mistake of mixing the names of two finalists.

"Our mistake!" The organization began.

According to Miss Universe El Salvador, they were in a hurry to get their social media posts up that "we accidentally mixed up the names of two finalists."

"This was a simple error of moving too fast," they admitted.

"We’re sorry to both finalists," they added.

Miss Universe El Salvador did not name names nor did it give any specifics, but shortly after the coronation event on Sunday morning (Philippine time), a screengrab of an Instagram post by Miss Universe El Salvador began circulating on social media.

It showed Philippine bet Michelle Dee was included in the Miss Universe Top 5, while noticeably missing was Miss Thailand Anntonia Porsild, who went on to become the 1st runner-up of Miss Universe 2023.

Assuring fans nothing fishy went on, Miss Universe El Salvador said in its statement that, "We heard the same results live at the same time that you all did, no special access over here!"

Michelle Dee settled for a Top 10 finish, while Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios became the new Miss Universe 2023.

This is a second time that a local Miss Universe organization issued a statement about the recently concluded pageant and surrounding activities.

On Wednesday, Miss Universe Philippines gave a statement on viral video that showed Michelle Dee "being escorted from a line-up in a TV guesting" saying it was the MUPH team that decided to pull Michelle out and bring her back to the hotel to rest.
