Eric Nam has something to say about Manila traffic
Eric Nam is performing in Metro Manila on Saturday, August 5 and it seems he's already in the Philippine capital as early as Thursday.
Because look: The Korean-American personality took to Twitter to share his, well, observation.
"Manila your traffic is unmatched," Eric said in a tweet that's already been viewed 1.6M times.
His tweet has also been quote-tweeted more than 10K times and was liked nearly 55K times, as of writing.
In the replies, many Filipinos explained the traffic is worse because of the typhoon.
"May bagyo beshyyyy. It’s typhoon season," one said, while another wrote "Hahahahahaha sorry na Eric, ganito lang kami."
Somebody else asked if Manila traffic was worse than Jakarta, while still another apologized.
Traffic has long been a problem in Metro Manila. In 2019, Primitivo Cal, a former executive director at UP Planning and Development Research Foundation Inc., traced in his research, “The State of the Art of Philippine Urban Transportation,” the five factors that led to the grim state of Metro Manila traffic.
They are: Rapid urbanization, Mono-centric urban form, Limited mass rail transit network, Low ratio of road length to motorization, and Institutional weakness.
But that's not mentioning the back-to-back typhoons that hit Metro Manila and the heavy amounts of rain, which has resulted in flooding in various parts of the capital including Quezon City, which in turn has worsened traffic.
Here's hoping our things gets better, so residents as well as visitors like Eric Nam and Russ — remember how he delayed his concert last year to wait for fans who got stuck in traffic? — have a better experience of Metro Manila.
Eric Nam is back in the Philippines to perform in Market! Market! on August 5. He was last in Manila in September 2022 for his There and Back Again World Tour.
