The ‘Ba’t malungkot ang beshie ko?’ kids have certainly glowed up!

MJ Ortega is now 15 and Lala Veliganio is now 17— and both are still stunners.

In an interview on “Unang Hirit,” on Tuesday, Lala revealed that though she and MJ were very close before, “bihira na kami magsama niyan. May kaibigan na ko, may kaibigan na siya. Tapos po yung pandemic, nagwatak po kaming dalawa.”

[We hardly get together anymore. I have friends, she has friends. And in the pandemic, we lost touch.]

While both are very focused on their studies, Lala continues to work as a fish sorter at the Navotas Fish Port, as she continues practicing gymnastics. 

The two reunited on the morning show where they recreated their viral scene.

It’s been four years since their viral video was released, and MJ said that it was “unexpected” for it to go viral again. “Masaya po kasi marami pong gumagaya, so ang saya po sa feeling nung ganun,” she said.

[I'm happy because a lot of people have been mimicking it. It feels good to go viral.]

Lala thanked their Nanay Idang, who recorded and posted their viral video. She added, “Kung di niya po pinost yan, wala po kami sa kinakapuan namin ngayon.”

Host Shaira Diaz then asked them, “Ba’t malungkot ang beshie ko?”

MJ said that although there are times when they are sad, she still feels blessed.

“Malungkot po siya kasi, [yung] pera po namin nauubos, pero masaya din naman po kasi natataguyod po namin yung buhay namin nang masaya,” she added.

MJ and Lala added that they maintained their flexibility with lots of practice. They even taught Shaira and Matteo Guidicelli how to do their moves.

MJ and Lala’s inspiring story was first featured in a 2019 episode of “Magpakailanman” called "Baklash: Ang mga princesa ng Navotas."

Learning the beautiful inside story to it, gave the meme a whole new meaning.

Even celebrities took their turn at the “Ba't malungkot ang beshie ko?” trend, including Dennis Trillo, Jake Ejercito, Mikael Daez, and Megan Young.
