Words we enjoyed using this 2022
So much has happened in 2022 that we can’t believe it’s only been the course of 365 days.
And to help express our many thoughts and feelings, we turned to these new slang terms. They did the job of getting our emotions out there, and they’re fun to use too!
Here are some of the words and phrases we enjoyed using in 2022:
1. Forda and Ferson
Once you get hooked on forda and ferson, you won’t be able to stop using it.
It was started by Crish Ann Austria, the TikTok star from Oriental Mindoro, who posted a video of her saying the terms while drunk. It quickly went viral and turned into a craze that people would say both online and in real life.
Simply put, “forda” means “for the,” and “ferson” means “person.” It is usually used to say what you’re doing or to describe a person, but it has now become a go-to random word for even the most unrelated sentences.
Example: Forda gastos na naman ang ferson!
2. Dogshow
@itssassagurl Dogshow talaga
? original sound - Sassa Gurl
“Dogshow” is a term made famous by Sassa Gurl who has been saying it since 2021.
According to the content creator, dogshow comes from “mga panlalaro sakin sa comment at ginagawan ako meme tinawag kong pandodogshow.”
In another reply to those asking about what it means, Sassa said that there’s actually a deeper meaning behind it, although she is yet to get back to us.
Aside from dogshow relating to playful comments, it’s also a much chiller way of saying 'gaguhan' or 'ululan.'
Example: Dino-dogshow mo ‘ko eh!
3. Estetik
@jhondher ESTITIK
? original sound - jhondher - Estetikness????
Let’s face it — “estetik” is a lot more fun to say than aesthetic.
Made popular by TikTok user @jhonder, estetik stays true to its true meaning of saying how something or someone is beautiful.
The term went viral with the way @jhonder said, “Paparating na sila ang mga estetik. Nahiya naman kami sa aming o-o-teh-dee [OOTD].”
Example: Ghorl, ang estetik mo today!
4. Boogsh
And speaking of estetik, boogsh ka, girl!
Boogsh is one of the slang terms used by content creator Mimiyuuuh a whole lot. It’s not hard to get — think of it as a synonym for bongga.
Example: Pak, boogsh!
5. Titikman
When your favorite celebrities are ulam, would you taste or cover them?
It all started when two kids played the Titikman o Tatakpan Challenge. Names or pictures of famous celebrities are given. Those playing will then say “titikman” or “tatakpan,” “taste” or “cover” — you know what we mean.
When Benjamin Alves was named, the kid playfully said “titikman” before squealing and bursting into kilig. So yes, we can say “titikman” whenever we feel giddy.
Example: Benjamin Alves? Titikman!
6. For today’s video
We can’t count how many vloggers say “for today’s video” whenever they start a vlog. This term has gotten a lot funnier when we started using it in real life, and we’re not even vloggers!
It’s become a part of our vocabulary to say “for today’s video,” whenever we just mean to say “today” or “right now.” It’s a lot more entertaining and brings some needed humor.
Example: Pagod na pagod na ‘ko for today’s video.
7. Shot puno
Bottoms up? Nah, shot puno tayo!
Although this phrase is not a new one, we did say it a lot this year whenever we need to unwind after a stressful week, or when a celebration is called for.
Even BamBam loves using it. In the wise words of the solo artist and GOT7 member: “Just shot puno, and you’ll feel fine.”
