Stray dog who looked jealous of sheltered animals goes viral, finds home
A stray dog who looked jealous of sheltered animals went viral and finally found a home.
As seen on Vonne Aquino's report on "24 Oras Weekend," the dog looked intently at the other dogs who had their hoomans with them.
This urged events photographer Anthony Jugo to snap a shot and upload it on social media. He also thought it mirrors how society is in real life now.
"Siguro naawa ako at napansin ko rin na parang nagseselos siya or nag-iimagine. 'What if gano'n ako or gano'ng klaseng aso ako?'" he said.
"Hindi siya nangyayari lang sa animals. Nangyayari rin siya sa totoong buhay. Merong mga taong halos isang kahig, isang tuka para lang mabuhay tapos meron namang nabubuhay sa karangyaan."
("Perhaps I felt bad and I also noticed that he seems to be jealous or imagining [a better life]. 'What if I am like that or I am a dog like that?' It doesn't just happen to animals. It also happens in real life. Some people are so poor and others are living in wealth.")
Moved by the scene, Anthony went back and provided a home for the dog he named Hopper, which he coined from the hope and inspiration he got from the fur baby.
"Binigyan ko siyang food ta's onti-onti siyang lumapit sa'kin. S'yempre parang kinukuha ko pa ang trust niya ta's nagpapa-hipo naman ta's nung hinipo ko na, nagpa karga naman."
("I gave him food and he approached me little by little. Of course, I had to get his trust and he allowed me to touch him. When I petted him, he then allowed me to carry him.")
Hopper is currently taking some medications for a skin disease he probably got from eating seafood. He's also already adjusted with Jugo's nine other rescue dogs at home.
Going through this, Jugo reminded the viewers to also help animals as much as they can.
"'Yung mga aso at pusa na nakikita natin sa kalsada or kahit sa anong lugar, they do have feelings, as well. 'Wag natin silang saktan," he said.
"If merong chance na pwede natin silang kunin or buhayin or gawing alaga, please do so kasi they will return the favor back to you a hundred times."
("The dogs and cats we see on the streets or elsewhere, they do have feelings as well. Let's not hurt them. If you have a chance to take care of them or adopt them, please do so because they will return the favor back to you a hundred times.")
