Cartoon Network clarifies it's not shutting down: 'We're not dead, we're just turning 30'

Cartoon Network had a funny response to rumors of it shutting down following its merger with Warner Bros. last week.

Amid the internet storm in which nostalgic memes about the television channel went viral, its official Twitter account dispelled such assumptions.

"Y'all we're not dead, we're just turning 30," Cartoon Network said. "To our fans: We're not going anywhere. We have been and will always be your home for beloved, innovative cartoons. More to come soon!"

"When the internet says you're dead but you're sitting here like," it added, along with eyes and lips emojis.

The main post has garnered over 240,000 likes as of writing, with netizens expressing their relief in the replies.

Founded in 1992, Cartoon Network is the home of iconic shows such as "Dexter's Laboratory," "The Powerpuff Girls," "Courage the Cowardly Dog," "Johnny Bravo," and many others.

Warner Bros. reportedly laid off around 80 employees, fueling the rumors that Cartoon Network was shutting down following the merger. —JCB, GMA News
