Teacher braves strong wind, rain to bring student home after class

A teacher from Quezon City went viral for braving strong winds and rain to bring one of her students home during a continuous downpour.

As seen on Oscar Oida’s “24 Oras” report on Thursday, Dayanara Cesar tried to fit herself and the student under one small and broken umbrella.

“Siya na lang po iyong naiiwan. Wala rin naman po kasing update sa akin iyong parents niya na hindi po masusundo iyong bata, so nag-desisyon na po ako na ihatid ko na po siya,” she said.

Dayanara said it took almost an hour of walking before they reached the student’s home. The child’s parents also apologized, saying they were sick.

The video was uploaded by Dayanara’s husband Benj, who is also a teacher. He hoped that everyone who saw what his wife did would appreciate the work teachers do.

“Hindi ko rin po akalain na magva-viral, makikita ng lahat ng tao iyong effort niya,” he said. “Sana po maliwanagan lahat ng nakakita na ang mga guro sa Pilipinas ay hindi lang basta-basta nagtuturo.”
