Grade 3 pupil donates unused school supplies to fellow students who can't buy their own

A Grade 3 student was praised by netizens online when he donated his unused school supplies to fellow pupils who have no means to buy their own.

As seen on Mark Salazar's report on "24 Oras," Monday, seven-year-old Aiden Paulo Brutas gave cases, pens, paper pads, and notebooks to his teacher Joan Pascual. It even came with a letter.

"To Ma'am Joan, si Aiden po ito. Bigay ko po ito kasi po 'di ko po na magagamit. Para po magamit po ng iba. Salamat po. Love, Aiden Paulo F. Brutas," the handwritten note read.

("To Ma'am Joan, this is Aiden. I give these because I no longer use them. So others can use them instead. Thank you. Love, Aiden Paulo F. Brutas.")

Aiden said he decided to do this because "sayang lang po kapag naitapon tapos wala pong nabibili 'yung ibang tao, 'yung walang pera."

("It's a waste to just throw it away while others who don't have money can't buy their own.")

As the child's teacher, Joan couldn't help but be proud and shed tears of joy due to the kindness Aiden showed.

"'Yung pagiging teacher po kasi, maraming nata-touch na buhay. Ang agang na-develop ng kanyang pagiging makatao (at) matulungin sa kapwa," she said.

("To be a teacher gives you the opportunity to touch many lives. His humanity and compassion for others have been developed so early.")

Of course, Aiden's mom Mylene Francisco is equally happy that her son is generous and kind-hearted even though they have their own hardships in life.

"Ang sarap po sa pakiramdam na natutunan niya pala 'yung tinuturo namin sa kanya. Kahit na ganyan kayo, pwede kayong tumulong sa maliit na bagay lamang," she said.

("It feels so good to see that he learned what we taught him. Even though you're small, you can help others in little ways.")

Mylene added that Aiden has always been keen about saving money. He has two piggy banks, where he puts cash to help others, including his family.

"Gusto niya raw pong makatulong sa ibang bata para po makapag-aral din daw po," she said.

("He said he wants to help other children so they can study.")

"(Nag-iipon) para makabili po kami ng ref dahil para magka-ipon po kami ng pera ulit atsaka para sa yelo," Aiden added, sharing that they want to sell ice soon.

("I'm saving up so we can buy a refrigerator so we can save money again and sell ice.")

Aiden studies at Concepcion Elementary School, which is also doing its part in helping students, who have been affected by the pandemic. They accept supplies and uniforms.

"Marami kaming nangangailangan na mga bata kaya tulungan po kami para matuloy sila sa pagpasok sa school. Hindi hadlang na walang gamit. Pag-tulung-tulungan po," Joan said.

("Many children need help so we hope people will help us get them through school. It's not an obstacle that you don't have school supplies. We can help each other out.")
