Child wins hearts online after treating his lolo to samgyupsal with his earnings from selling lumpia

A child from Tanza, Cavite warmed the hearts of many online after treating his lolo to samgyupsal using his earnings from selling lumpia on the street.

In Oscar Oida's report on "24 Oras," Monday, restaurant owner Jessica Absalon said she saw Janesa Ortiz urging Lolo Roberto Enriquez to eat, which immediately caught her attention.

"Nakita namin na parang kinukulit ni Janesa 'yung kanyang lolo na gustong kumain talaga. Sabi ni Lolo Roberto, balik na lang daw kasi magtitinda pa raw sila," she recalled.

["We saw that Janesa was convincing his lolo to eat. Lolo Roberto said they should come back later because they still have some food to sell."]

In the evening, the two came back with the money they collected from selling food all day.

"Sabi po nila, 'Ate, kakain na po kami. Ito na po 'yung P199 namin (na) pambayad sa samgyupsal n'yo.'"

["They said, 'Ate, we will eat now. This is the P199 for your samgyupsal.'"]

Janesa said he worked hard all afternoon to earn enough money so that his lolo can finally try the famous Korean dish.

"'Di pa po siya nakakatikim dito. Gusto niya rin po. Naawa po kasi ako kay Lolo eh. Nakita ko (na) nagugutom po siya," he said.

["He hasn't tasted this yet. He also wants to try it. I felt bad for him. I saw that he was hungry."]

Roberto was happy to try the food but above anything else, he said just having Janesa with him already makes him happy.

"Masarap 'yung may nagmamahal sa 'yo at may nagmamalasakit. Wala na akong hihilingin pa," he said.

["It feels good to have someone who loves you and cares for you. I cannot ask for anything more."]

Inspired by what Janesa showed her, Jessica decided not to charge them for the food they ate.

"Sobrang natuwa kami sa kanila. Tuwing pupunta po sila rito, libre na po 'yung pagkain nilang mag-lolo."

["We were touched with what they showed. Whenever they come here, their food will be free of charge."]

Meanwhile, Janesa said he will not stop here. He promised to continue working hard for him and Lolo Roberto.

"Wala pong imposible kung gusto mo pong bumangon sa kahirapan," he said. "Magpursigi ka lang maghanapbuhay."

["Nothing is impossible if you want to rise above poverty. Just persevere with earning a living."]

He also turned to his lolo, sharing a goal for the future: "Ako bahala sa 'yo, Lo. Bibilhan kita ng kotse 'pag yumaman ako."

["I'll take of you, Lo. I will buy a car for you when I become rich."]
