SB19, Maine Mendoza among top hashtags in the Philippines in 2021

Art, entertainment, and cryptocurrency took centerstage on local Twitter as #ArtPH, #SB19, #NFT and #MaineMendoza were revealed to be the among the top hashtags in the Philippines this year.

In a statement Thursday, Twitter released a list of hashtags and accounts that dominated conversations from Jan. 1 to Nov. 15.

Also among the most tweeted hashtags in 2021 in the Philippines were #GenshinImpact, #SquidGame, #StopAsianHate, and #Tokyo2020.

Maine Mendoza and P-pop group SB19 went big this year as Twitter named them not only among the top hashtags in the Philippines, but also the most tweeted about people in the country.

Alden Richards, meanwhile, was among the top entertainment accounts in the country in 2021.

Conversations about cryptocurrency was also on the rise in the country this year. #NFT, also known as non-fungible tokens, was the most tweeted hashtag, while Ayu and Wat, individuals in crypto business, were among the most tweeted about people in the Philippines. – RC, GMA News
