Painter turns simple grave into work of art ahead of Undas

Thousands of netizens were delighted by a painter who had given a simple grave an artistic makeover.

As seen in photos shared by “Unang Hirit,” artist Alfonso Louise Alejandro Lamela II painted an eye-catching pattern on a plain white burial chamber.

Lamela achieved the design with the creative use of tape and a blue-green shade of paint.

Filipinos usually spruce up graves of their loved ones for a family visit on All Saints’ Day.

Traditional activities, however, might see a change as the government plans to close cemeteries to the public from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4 to prevent crowding and the spread of COVID-19 during the Undas season. – Margaret Claire Layug/RC, GMA News
