Motorcycle vlogger goes viral after giving aid to elderly couple selling salt on the road
A vlogger's act of kindness went viral after he posted a video of his encounter with an elderly couple selling salt along the Alabang-Zapote Road in Las Piñas City.
According to Oscar Oida's report on "24 Oras," Monday, motorcycle vlogger Robert Jaworski Salonga saw the couple at noon peddling their wares using a bike with a side car.
Accompanied by their young grandson, the two senior citizens, aged 75 and 65, continue to work to earn a living for their family.
"Medyo matanda nga po sina nanay at tatay pero nasa tirik pa rin po ng araw, naglalako pa rin sila kahit ganun 'yung sitwasyon, kahit pandemic. Tapos may kasama pong bata, medyo delikado na po sa kanila at sa health po nila," Robert said.
["Grandmother and grandfather are already old but they are still under the sun selling their goods despite the situation, despite the pandemic. There is also a child with them, so it's a little risky for them and for their health."]
He also asked them more questions regarding their situation, and then he decided to help them by buying all of their salt.
After handing them some cash, however, he told them to sell their products the next day so they won't have to worry about the capital.
"Kung magkano po 'yung meron ako shine-share ko po 'yun sa mga nagtitinda sa mga kalsada, or 'yung iba po mga delivery riders, or kung sino po 'yung madatnan ko sa kalsada," he said.
["Whatever I have, I share it with street vendors, or delivery riders, or whoever I see on the road."]
Robert said he is doing this as a "pay it forward" act, as he already received blessings with his own business and vlogging.
He also said he will look for the elderly couple again to extend more help and encouraged others to do the same.
"May makakita man po sa kanilang naglalako, sana ubusin n'yo na po 'yung paninda nila nanay at tatay para makapagpahinga na po sila ng mas maaga," he said.
["If you see them selling on the street, I hope you can buy all of their goods so they can rest earlier."]
