QC cafe helps 8-year-old get birth certificate she needs for her education

An eight-year-old child has been melting hearts online thanks to the photo of her holding up a birth certificate with a bright smile.

According to a report on State of the Nation, it has been Angel's dream to pursue an education, but it didn't come easy because she didn't have the necessary document.

On top of that, she and her family were evicted from the house they'd been staying in.

Luckily, she was aided by the ice cream cafe Popburri.

Located in Quezon City, Popburri had once been converted by its owners into a shelter order to help those displaced amid the quarantine last year.

In March 2020, the shelter was shut down by barangay officials for supposedly violating quarantine requirements.

However, the owners still went out of their way to help Angel get a birth certificate after having met her last year.

The report said that they applied for a birth certificate last October, and they received the document just this September.

Popburri also helped Angel's father find a job.

The owners also continue to aid the homeless to this day, having made it a long-term mission to take people off the streets. —JCB, GMA News
