It's so hot, a Laguna resident was able to fry an egg under the sun
It took all of three hours for Cecile Jusi-Baltasar to fry an egg under the harsh Philippine sun.
On Facebook Friday, the Laguna resident shared a photo of the fried malasado egg she successfully cooked on their pavement, saying she started her experiment at 12 noon, placing a pan with little cooking oil on bare ground, outside their house.
With the cracked egg inside, she covered the pan presumably to keep it safe from curious dogs, which did make their presence felt that afternoon.
By 1pm, the egg white turned translucent and by 3pm, their sunny side up was done.
"Welcome to the Philippines, where sunlight can get so harsh, it can literally cook an egg!" Cecile wrote.
Speaking to GMA News Online, Cecile said it was about 35-36º Celsius where they were in San Pedro, Laguna, and that it was "mahangin and sunny without clouds."
The weather has been so hot that the idea had been, well, boiling in Cecile's mind. When work finally let up on Friday, she proceeded with the experiment. "I wanted a tangible way to show the kids how hot it is — na pati itlog, pwedeng maluto," she said.
Her kids, aged 15 and 12, tagged along with her and by 4pm, the whole family enjoyed the fried egg with pan de sal for merienda.
So, no. It's not just you. We are truly in peak summer. And in case you needed another proof: last Wednesday, PAGASA recorded a dangerous 52º heat index in Dagupan. So keep hydrated, shower, and if you can, surround yourself with more plants. — LA, GMA News
