Parol maker breaks down in tears after P70-K worth of lanterns abandoned by buyer
A parol maker in Sta. Ana Manila was left in tears after a buyer abandoned an order of 1,000 lanterns worth P70,000.
According to Lei Alviz' report in "24 Oras," a video of the seller, Maximino Simon, went viral on social media as netizens sympathized with his situation.
Mang Maximino was devastated with what happened, thinking of his four children with Christmas just around the corner.
"Hindi ko na alam kung saan ako kukuha ng pangungutang, wala nang magpapautang ngayon," he said, crying.
He said only one person contracted him to make the lanterns.
"Sila nagkaproblema, nadamay lang po 'yung parol ko na dapat ay nakuha na," Mang Maximino said.
After hearing of his story, Manila mayor Isko Moreno came to his rescue and purchased the lanterns, which were then distributed to a nearby barangay.
He also said the incident will be investigated to hold the buyer accountable.
"Maraming salamat talaga, kinuha niya po 'yung parol ko. Kahit papaano hindi na ako maghahagilap," said Mang Maximino.
Asked for his message to others who are facing their own struggles this holiday season, he encouraged them to stay on course and keep the faith.
"Wag kayong mawalan ng pag-asa. Gawa ka lang ng mabuti, may blessing na kapalit," he said. —MGP, GMA News
