QR code in QC quarantine pass leads resident to an Adele song

The QR code feature of a Quezon City quarantine pass started an internet frenzy after a resident who tried scanning it was directed to search results for a pop song.

In a Facebook post, Batasan Hills resident Vannezza Aranas shared how the QR code in her pass led her to an online search result for "Hello :)" for which Adele's popular song "Hello" was the first result.

As explained in a report by "Stand For Truth," the QR code feature was installed by the Integrated Barangay Information System for digital contact tracing.

"Whenever you input a name or information of a resident, it will go directly to a mapping system that you need to put in the coordinates kung saan talaga nakatira," the project manager, Bobby Atienza, explained.

Nevertheless, the chairman of Barangay Batasan Hills Jojo Abad has issued an apology  over the incident.

Vannezza's post about the QPass quickly went viral on social media with more than 8,000 shares as of posting.

The netizen, however, clarified that she only shared her experience because she was genuinely amused.

Vannezza even created an "MECQ" playlist on Spotify inspired by the mishap.

"Noong time na ginawa ko 'yung playlist, na-curious kasi talaga ako kasi... 'Hello?' So (naisip ko) baka sa ibang tao iba 'yung lumabas, so sabi ko gawa nga ako ng playlist so ang dami na ring nag-add, 'yung mga sikat na songs ngayon, nadagdagan (na siya)," she said. —Margaret Claire Layug/MGP, GMA News
