7 celebrities show us how to best respond to bashers

It seems like the lockdown has made a lot of people angry. With hardly any recreation and trapped inside their homes, people have been bottling up their emotions with no outlet for release except for online. And more often than not, celebrities become the target for hate.

Below, we list down seven who have responded beautifully to all the hate spewed their way. May we become even half as sassy and as graceful as they are.

1. Heart Evangelista: "Wonder about other things that make your heart spark"

Heart Evangelista may be one of the most well-loved personalities but that doesn't exempt her from having bashers. In February, a Twitter user called her "artificial." What did the Kapuso Queen of Creative Collaborations do? She replied to the hater with real-talk and kindness.

"You don't have to wonder. Just don't care. We are different but that's still fine. Wonder about other things that make your heart spark," Heart said.

The Twitter user then apologized to Heart and thanked her for responding kindly despite giving out a rude comment.

"I never thought you'd actually see this, but I apologize if I came off as a bit rude. And you're right, I shouldn't just assume right off the bat. That was my mistake. Thank you for being so kind to my slight stupidity anyway."

2. Kathryn Bernardo: "Hello, 'di naman ako makukulong sa pagka-sakang ko"

Just last Sunday, Kathryn released a vlog post, where she responded to mean tweets.

Among the comments she read was one about her being bowlegged.

"Na-realize ko lahat tayo merong imperfections, siguro nagkataon sa kin binigay ni God 'yung legs ko. So anong gagawin ko? Eh d'ii nagwo-workout ako para ma-exercise siya and tatanggapin ko siya," she said.

"Hello, 'di naman ako makukulong sa pagka-sakang ko. I love my legs!" she added.

3. Winwyn Marquez: "Search mo words na fit and healthy sa Google"

Amid the quarantine, Winwyn Marquez has had to deal with naysayers.

The beauty queen actress shut down a netizen who left an unwanted comment criticizing her weight on her Instagram photo.

"Tumaba ka, ang lalaki ng mga muscles. Maganda ung katawan mo dati ung nanalo ka as queen," the comment read in Winwyn's photo where she's seen wearing a muscle tee and a sports bra.

But Winwyn remained unshaken. The beauty queen replied, "Well I like my muscles and if mataba 'yan for you search mo words na fit and healthy sa Google."

4. Rocco Nacino: "Are you educated? Parang hindi kasi"

In 2017, a Twitter user with the handle @BasherMoKoR tweeted Rocco Nacino directly: "Are you educated? Parang hindi kasi."

Calm and composed, the Kapuso actor fired back enumerating his credentials back then, "A registered nurse, a degree in Nursing, and almost getting my masters of arts in nursing soon."

He then returned the question to his basher and asked, " "Ibabalik ko ung tanong mo sa 'yo. Are you?" When the hater replied that he was still in school studying, Rocco replied, "Balikan mo ko kapag meron na ha. Hintayin ko yan. Kamayan pa kita."

5. Vickie Rushton: "Your comments and reactions were noted"

After Vickie Rushton's second stint in the Binibining Pilipinas pageant in 2019 ended with a fumbling performance during the Q&A, she became the recipient of negative comments.

But the beauty queen responded the way one would do: with poise and humility.

On her Instagram account, she thanked both her bashers and supporters and said she would use the comments to better herself.

"To all those who believed in me despite my imperfections and to my detractors, thank you so much. Your comments and reactions were noted. I can use some of them to perfect my imperfect self," Vickie wrote on her Instagram post.

6. Golden Canedo: "Just be proud and be yourself"

Just last January, Golden Canedo stood up against her bashers who have been criticizing her skin and her appearance.

The Kapuso singer shared some of the hurtful things she's heard from her bashers: "Hindi siguro 'yan artista, wag na tayo pa-pic."

Just be proud and be yourself," Golden added.

7. Gabbi Garcia: "'Wag kayo magpa-alipin sa definition of sexy on social media"

Bashers love judging and making fun of Gabbi Garcia's morena skin and flat chest but jokes on the, because Gabbi thinks her skin and her chest are two of her best assets.

"Accept everything about yourself, wag kayo magpa-alipin sa definition of sexy on social media. You are sexy in your own way," Gabbi said in Keds' Ladies for Ladies Talk in 2019.

"You can be sexy on your personality, the way you think, your talents 'di ba? And just accept all your flaws. Once you accept everything, it's not a flaw anymore... flaunt those stretch marks, flaunt your flat-chested self," she said. — LA, GMA News
