PUV driver's family lives inside jeepney after losing source of income amid quarantine

A jeepney driver and his family have been living inside a jeepney after he lost his only source of income amid the enhanced community quarantine.

According to GMA News reporter Bernadette Reyes, the family started living in the jeepney because they could no longer pay rent.

They had no other means of livelihood after public transportation was suspended amid the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Inside the vehicle, a photo of the Virgin Mary is on display behind the front passenger seat. The family sleeps on the cushioned seats and on cardboards placed on the floor.

They eat inside the jeep and cook and do their laundry on the side of the streets.

The family have resorted to asking for help and food from passing vehicles and motorcycle riders to survive.

Drivers of public utility vehicles have been seeking financial assistance from the government and the public to help them feed their families.

Some netizens put up a Facebook group called "SuperTsuper" to facilitate donations for PUV drivers. —Kaela Malig/MGP, GMA News
