Anne Hathaway channels Princess Diaries' Mia Thermopolis for viral 'pillow challenge'

Anne Hathaway blew everyone out of the water with her take on the viral pillow challenge on Instagram, and delivered a dose of nostalgia while she was at it.

The Hollywood star fashioned herself a dress out of pillows, and posed with butterfly wings as her backdrop.

But what was notable in her photo is that she was wearing shades and headphones, effectively recreating the role that shot her into stardom: Mia Thermopolis in the iconic film "The Princess Diaries."

She even quoted Queen Clarisse Renaldi, played by Julie Andrews, for the caption: "A Queen is never late; everyone else is simply early."

The pillow challenge is the latest trend to overtake Instagram, where users wear pillows and attempt to fashion them into clothing.

The popularity of "The Princess Diaries" prompted the creation of a sequel, "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement."

In 2019, Hathaway confirmed the existence of the screenplay for a third movie, and said they "all really want to make it happen."

""We love it as much as you guys love it... we don't want to deliver anything unless it's ready," she said.
