‘Grim Reapers’ patrol streets in Catanduanes to remind residents to stay home
A bunch of “Grim Reapers” patrolled a barangay in San Andres, Catanduanes amid the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
According to a report on “24 Oras,” this was the barangay’s theatrical way of telling residents stay home to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
As seen in photos shared by Punong Barangay Sammy dela Cruz on "24 Oras," at least three men dressed as “kamatayan” patrolled the streets with their cloaks and scythes.
In mythology, the Grim Reaper is the personified force of death.
Dela Cruz also shared a photo of one of them at the barricade, posing beside a coffin and a sign that read “stay at home or stay inside.”
Luzon is currently under enhanced community quarantine during which local officials are tasked to implement measures that would help contain COVID-19 in their specific areas.
The government has also bared plans to extend the quarantine period as the death toll rose to 96 as of Wednesday, while 2,311 have tested positive.
