Vico Sotto says he has no time for trolls: 'We are just trying to do our best to save lives'

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said he has no time to fight against trolls and just wants to focus on doing his job amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) threat.

Sotto replied to a netizen on Facebook who commented on his post telling him to ignore bashers and trolls.

"Hayaan mo lang sila at kami na bahalang mag-defend sa yo. Kahit mga hindi taga-Pasig suportado ka. We got your back, Mayor," the netizen commented on his FB post.

Sotto replied to the netizen and said, "Wala po kaming panahon makipag laban sa mga trolls at paninira. Lahat na lang gusto nilang gawin politika."

He said he is just doing his best to "save lives."

"Alam nyo naman po wala ako troll farm. Kayo na po bahalang tulungan ang pasig para di mabahala/malito ang mga pasigueño sa mga trolls. SALAMAT PO."

His reply to the netizen's comment came after he was criticized for some of his moves to help out Pasiguenos, especially its frontliners, during the Luzon-wide quarantine amid COVID-19.

Pasig City initially allowed tricycle trips to cater to healthcare workers and Sotto appealed to the national government to exempt tricycles from the ban on public transportation.

Pasig City also recently set up a community kitchen to provide frontliners with meals and temporarily repurposed its Bike Share units to help them get to their work destination.

Sotto said he is also preparing to distribute 400,000 food packs and 8,000 bottles of vitamins to Pasig City residents.

Pasig also set up sanitation tents outside hospitals and provided bus service for healthcare workers.

Netizens commended Vico for his aggressive action to help his constituents amid the COVID-19 scare.
