A Syrian vlogger who lives in the Philippines cooked more than 1,000 packed meals for the evacuees of the Taal Volcano eruption.

The Hungry Syrian Wanderer, named Basel in real life, shared photos of himself preparing Chicken Kabsa, a Syrian dish similar to Chicken Biryani.

Basel said it took him and his two companions 11 hours to finish cooking and packing the meals.

"Will drive around Batangas and near Taal again today. My first time ever to cook 1,103 pcs of Chicken Wings in ONE GO!" he said in his Facebook post.

Last week, Basel distributed N95 masks and other supplies for the people affected by the Taal eruption, using the hashtag #VolcanKaLangFilipinoKame.

"I'm on early grind again today with my team. Will try to reach out yung mga Kababayan nating hindi nahahatiran masyado ng tulong," he said.

Basel describes himself as "the adopted son of the Philippines" and he could speak Tagalog. He moved to the country when he was 18 years old after war broke out in Syria. —MGP, GMA News
