Man gives away free masks in Cavite amid ashfall from Taal
As stores have been running low on facemasks amid the ashfall from the Taal Volcano eruption, a man in Cavite, General Mariano has been giving them away for free.
In a photo shared by Joey Aserios Aquino, a good samaritan had several boxes of ordinary masks to give away to people walking by.
The uploader said the man was even giving away two masks for each person so they could prevent themselves from inhaling volcanic ashfall.
According to the US Food and Drug Administration, ordinary masks may not provide sufficient protection against airborne particles as the N95 mask would.
But because masks in general have been sold out in several drug stores since the eruption, this roadside hero has at least supplied several individuals with some initial protection. —Margaret Claire Layug/JST, GMA News
