'Voltes V' fans turn nostalgic over upcoming live action remake
"Voltes V" is an old favorite of Filipinos, so expectations are high for GMA Network's upcoming live action remake.
In fact, the 60-second teaser for "Voltes V Legacy" already got more than a million views on the first day of its release.
Since the Japanese anime classic is a tough act to follow, some skepticism over the CGI and storytelling could not be avoided.
Nevertheless, the sight of their favorite sword-wielding robot in action brought several netizens back and awakened some of their dearest childhood memories.
"Yan paborito ko, dekada 1978, may dalang kahoy (akong) tumakabo para manood ng (Voltes V), maluha-luhang naka-tingin sa langit at kinakanta (themesong) niya. Malaking inspirasyon sa akin yan sa buhay ko," a Facebook user Wallie Villafuerte said in a comment.
On Twitter, a fan stressed that Voltes V was significant not only to his childhood but to Filipino culture and its history.
