This parent's viral excuse letter will break your heart

An excuse letter written by a mother for her child's three-day absence has gone viral, breaking many hearts online.

"Please excuse my son for being absent for three days because he has no rice to eat. His father cannot drive sikad [pedicab]," Jerome Felipe's mother wrote in the excuse letter, according to teacher Jen Dullente's Facebook post.

According to a report on State of the Nation with Jessica Soho, the teacher was so moved by her student's excuse letter that she visited Jerome's small hut and offered help.

She said, "It is an eye opener for me as a teacher na I should consider more on what is happening to my students."

She assured the public that the faculty and staff of Jerome's school has provided monetary support to help out Jerome's family. —Kaela Malig/JST, GMA News
