DLSU's resident cat Archer passes away
Netizens mourned on Saturday the passing of Archer, one of the resident cats at De La Salle University.
"Archer earned his wings and crossed the rainbow bridge this morning. He will be missed," wrote Carmel Puertollano in a post on the DLSU PUSA Facebook page.
"We would like to thank everyone for the love and support that you have extended to our cats, especially our beloved ambassador, Archer," she added.
The beloved cat has become an ambassador of sorts in the campus for having given joy to many students over the years.
In March, he was given a "graduation ceremony" as he had to be transferred to the care of a family due to his medical condition. Archer was even given a DLSU alumni card.
According to Puertollano, Archer had chronic kidney disease in an advanced stage, possibly stage 4.
He also had liver problems and possible lymphoma.
Puertollano also thanked Ate Jenny for taking care of Archer from the time of his "graduation".
"To this end, we would like to thank Ate Jenny for giving Archer the best life — cooking meals, administering medicines (even learning how to do subcutaneous treatment), bringing him to the vet for his regular check-ups, and loving him unconditionally, without counting the cost," she wrote.
Puertollano also thanked Archer's veterinarians: Dr. Bea Co of Ortiz Veterinary Clinic, the team at Carveldon, Dr. David Arceo, and the team at The Pet Project.
Many netizens have reacted to the post and commented.
"Run free Archer I've always been checking on you through the page and ate jenny! We love you Archer I was just looking at your pics yesterday in your bread!" wrote Jacqueline Farinas.
"Reading with lump on my throat. First time we saw you we fell in love with you. you remind us of our dear Sparky who crossed the rainbow bridge several yrs ago.
