The official Captain Marvel website is a marvelous throwback
Marvel's upcoming "Captain Marvel" is set in the 1990s, so it is only fitting that its official website, launched last Friday, is a showcase of all the cutting-edge web technology the decade has to offer.
While many fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be too young to have experienced the World Wide Web of 20 years ago, the eye-searing graphics and Geocities-level interface—complete with broken links, a guestbook, and Comic Sans—will be a trip down memory lane for those of us who were alive in the '90s.
The only thing missing is the sound of the dial-up modem.
The site includes images of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, a fighter pilot who becomes galactic superhero Captain Marvel, and Samuel L. Jackson, who reprises his role as Nick Fury—this time, before he becomes the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
