Sampaguita vendor goes viral due to good looks
Remember Carrot Man? What about Popcorn Girl?
Now, a 20-year-old sampaguita vendor stationed outside Quiapo Church in Manila is getting similar attention after a photo of her went viral online.
Dubbed "Sampaguita Girl," Veronica Rodillas was surprised when people started asking for selfies with her while she was working.
"Nagulat po ako, gawa nga po nung nag-viral 'yung picture ko, kasi 'di ba po kadalasan may nagpapa-picture mga artista o yung mga taong may nagagawang mabuti," she told GMA News' Oscar Oida in 24 Oras on Wednesday.
Veronica is in her fourth year of college, and she has been helping her mom sell sampaguitas since she was a child. When she has no classes, she continues to do so.
Asked what she would do if she gets an offer to go into showbiz, Veronica said that she is focused on helping her mother and on the activities of Quiapo Church.
"Ang hirap hong sagutin kasi nakasanayan ko ng magtinda at tumulong sa mama ko," she said.
"Huwag po makakalimot kung saan tayo nagmula," she added.
The report also showed passersby glancing at Veronica, some even asking to take a photo with her.
While she's fine with posing for selfies, she also said she hopes people will notice her sampaguitas. — Jessica Bartolome/BM, GMA News
