Get to know the Police Bae of Tondo
Is it safe to say that we all got lucky, watching "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" tonight?
The program introduced viewers to PO1 Lucky Galang, a cop from Tondo, Manila who’s also known as the "Police Bae" of Tondo.
PO1 Luck lives like a celebrity, contending with neighbors who want to have a selfie with him every morning when he goes to work.
It all started when one of his photos went viral after it was posted on a Facebook page. The photo generated thousands of engagements with some of the comments reading: "Gagawa ako ng kasalanan para hulihin mo!"
But there’s more to the good looking, crime-fighting policeman. Apart from training to become an aviation security, Lucky is also an athlete.Dragon boat racing is his main sport.
He previously tried his luck in showbiz, doing ramp modeling and joining Starstruck. Before becoming a policeman, Lucky was a banker.
As a little boy who grew up in dangerous Tondo, Lucky often witnessed fights, which led him to his dream to become a police.
He narrated how he was already fond of playing with pellet guns as a kid.
His father died early due to a heart attack, which forced his siblings to help him finish school.
Having two siblings who are already in the police industry, Lucky first tried a different path and took a Business Administration course in college.
It was while studying that Lucky worked as a ramp model, thanks to his artista neighbor Jay Manalo. But while he enjoyed relatively a lukewarm career, he knew the showbiz industry was not his path.
After studying, Lucky flew to Dubai to work as a teller in a Foreign Exchange company. It was there where he met the love of his life, Christine, who has changed him to become a better man.
When Christine got pregnant, the couple flew back home to the Philippines. It was during this time when Lucky decided to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a member of the police force.
But life has a funny way of putting things together. He may not be in the entertainment industry, but with the number of people trying to get a selfie with him, isn't it popularity that Lucky is also enjoying? — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
