Alice Dixson's Boracay post draws mixed reactions

Alice Dixson's birthday dispatch on Instagram went viral as she posted a video from Boracay last Saturday.

The post showed the effects of rehabilitation on the beach, as Alice took a tour of a deserted island with closed establishments.

But the post did not escape the attention of netizens who asked what the actress was doing in the island when it had been closed for rehab.

Defenders of the actress raised the possibility of her owning a resident ID, which is a requirement for the Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force for entry into the island.

Workers, meanwhile, require a work permit.

According to a GMA News source, Alice's boyfriend owns a resort, which explains how she got a barangay ID.

Among those dismayed by the video was Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, who used the incident to take a shot at President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Alam ninyo po, sa panahon ni Duterte, pagka malakas ka sa kanila you can break the rules," he said.

It wasn't the first time outsiders got to swim in Boracay's pristine shores since the closure.

Just this month, authorities allowed 21 foreign delegates from Europe to have a 30-minute swim.

Authorities said they were allowed to take a quick dip as part of their outreach activities with indigenous peoples in the island. —JST, GMA News
