Marian Rivera’s GMA show ‘Tadhana’ bags award for best TV series on OFW migration
GMA News TV's "Tadhana" was named the Best TV Series on Migration in the 2017 Migration Advocacy and Media (MAM) Awards by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas on December 18.
Hosted by Kapuso star Marian Rivera, "Tadhana" dramatizes the "colorful, romantic, heroic, challenging and inspiring stories of overseas Filipino workers around the world."
Accepting the award was episode producer Eleazar del Rosario.
"Tadhana" began airing on May 20 after "Eat Bulaga!" and was one of Rivera's first shows since taking a break to give birth to her daughter Zia.
Previous GMA TV Shows lauded for their OFW-centric content include "Reel Time" for their "Batang Halau" episode in 2012 and "Pusong Pinoy sa Amerika," GMA Pinoy TV’s long-running program on immigration law, in 2013.
MAM was created in 2011 to "recognize the significant role of the media in raising the public awareness on issues related to Filipino migration, and the challenges of migration and development, and advocating the cause and promoting a positive image of Filipinos overseas."
This year's awardees were selected by CFO Interim OIC Maria Regina Angela Gallas and members from Philippine Migrants Rights Watch, National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Presidential Communications Operations Office, Philippines Information Agency, Film Development Council of the Philippines, and National Press Club of the Philippines. — MDM, GMA News
