How would you like to have SAP Bong Go’s selfie in your Facebook profile photo?
Special Assistant to the President Bong Go took a lot of photos during the 31st ASEAN Summit that it didn’t only earn the attention of the press, it also gave rise to one of the most hilarious things on Facebook: Photo by SAP Bong Go is a Facebook page that — you got it — allows you to include Special Assistant to the President Bong Go’s face in your profile pic.
And the genius we credit this for? Twenty-year-old Cainta resident Paul Aguado. “To be honest, I’m not really familiar with Go until I saw his selfies with the ASEAN delegates circulating online,” Aguado tells GMA News Online in an email interview.
He started making memes out of the selfies, “then naisip ko, bakit hindi na lang lahat may selfie with Go?”
Aguado did a couple of web searches that taught him “it’s actually possible to create a customized profile picture frame using an FB page. So I quickly created a dedicated page.
The 20-year-old investment banking associate named the page ‘Photo by SAP Bong Go’, inspired by how news outlets credited the selfies. “I made a rough edit of Go’s photo and uploaded the custom frame that night. He shared it on Reddit, and two days after it went live on Monday, November 13, the page already has more than 4,000 followers and a whole lot of profile photos changed.
Aguado said he hasn’t been met by angry trolls, that Go hasn’t messaged, but that there was one who asked about the letter he sent to Malacanang. “So after this, I will edit the page info to clarify that it’s not affiliated with Go or any government officials in any way. Katuwaan lang talaga.”
