Netizens enraged over Isabelle Daza's Instagram story post

"It Girl" Isabelle Daza is under fire for posting a video on her Instagram story.

In the video, she's seen mocking the Japanese way of giving out business cards.

She was handed a card by her sister Ava — using two hands — and then she squashed it. On the video she wrote, "What I want to do when people hand me their calling cards like this."

You might say it's just an Instagram story; it disappears after 24 hours! But an angry netizen took a screen grab of it and set the world on fire.

Fashion blogger Tricia Gosingtian was one of the citizens who was dismayed by her insensitive action, she called Daza out on Twitter, posting a screenshot of the video along with a caption that says, "I have no words! Please respect how other cultures show respect."

Gosingtian even suggested that she read an article from Japan Times about Japan's Meishi (business card) culture, pointing out that giving and receiving of business cards with two hands is significant in Japan.

According to the article, "Calling card: the evolution of business cards in Japan", many companies provide "manners class" that include guidelines on the proper way of exchanging business cards to avoid slip-ups.

In the same article, Pernille Rudlin, a Europe, Middle East, and Africa representative for Japan Intercultural Consulting said, "It's not a great idea to go in there and start flicking your meishi across the desk at people, that will cause a slight, sharp intake of breath."

Yup, the proper way of giving out your meishi is definitely a big deal and netizens are raging over Isabelle's Instagram story post.

Just this past week, fellow "It Girl" Georgina Wilson, her sister Jess, and their cousin Martine Cajucom received criticisms from netizens for posting photos of themselves wearing communist hats at Tiananmen Square in China.

On a separate Instagram story post, Isabelle Daza chimed in on the communist hat story and showed where the hat supposedly ended up.

This isn't the first time that Isabelle Daza committed a faux pas on social media. In April this year, she apologized for posting on IG stories about making a decision between buying a hat or feeding children in Africa.

"Buy this hat for my Africa looks or FEED children in Africa for the same price? What would Angelina Jolie do?"

On Tuesday, Daza told Preview magazine that "it was a private joke." — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA/KVD, GMA News
