Randy Orton suffers gruesome head injury in SummerSlam loss to Brock Lesnar
The main event of SummerSlam 2016 ended with Randy Orton in a bloody heap, losing by technical knockout to Brock Lesnar.
Officials had to stop the match after Orton's head was cracked open following a series of elbows from Lesnar.
WWE.com is reporting that Orton's head wound required 10 staples to close.
Prior to that, Finn Balor defeated Seth Rollins to become the WWE's first Universal Champion. World champion Dean Ambrose, meanwhile, fended off Dolph Ziggler to retain his title.
Charlotte regained the WWE Women's Title from Sasha Banks, while the New Day retained their tag team titles after losing by disqualification to the Club following interference from television host Jon Stweart.
The Miz kept his Intercontinental Championship after beating Apollo Crews. Rusev failed to defend his United States title after an attack by Roman Reigns prior to their scheduled match.
Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens opened the main show with a victory over Enzo and Kaz, while AJ Styles used a Styles Clash and a Phenomenal Forearm to defeat John Cena.
In the pre-show, the team of the Usos, American Alpha, and the Hype Bros opened the event with a win over Breezango, the Ascension, and the Vaudevillains.
Sami Zayn and Neville teamed up for the first time for a victory over the Dudley Boyz, while Sheamus defeated Cesaro for win No. 1 in their best-of-seven series. —JST, GMA News
