2 police chiefs in Bicol in hot water over jueteng
Senior police officials on Friday sought the relief of police chiefs in two Camarines Sur towns, in the Southern Luzon region of Bicol, for allegedly failing to control jueteng operations in their areas. Chief Superintendent Vic Boco, Philippine National Police Region 5 director, recommended that Chief Inspector Cerilio Trillas Jr, chief of Bato police, and Senior Inspector Eduardo Regalario, chief of Buhi police be relieved. Chief Supt. Antonio Nanias, head of the Anti-Illegal Gambling Special Task Force, said his group discovered jueteng operations continued to proliferate in said towns. Twenty-one jueteng collectors and personnel were arrested in a raid in Bato Thursday while 11 staff members of the illegal gambling operators were nabbed in a police operation in Buhi. For their part, Trillas and Regalario said they did everything to stop the jueteng operations in their respective jurisdiction.-GMANews.TV
