DLSU solidifies partnership with Japanese Universities
The De La Salle University Gokongwei College of Engineering (GCOE) has committed to pursue academic exchange and cooperation with Nagoya University (NU) with the signing of the following two documents last December.
An agreement for academic exchange and cooperation and a student exchange memorandum between the College of Engineering of De La Salle University and the Graduate Schools of Engineering and Environmental Studies in Nagoya University, Japan.
Signatories were GCOE Dean Jonathan Dungca Ph.D. and Director for External Affairs Dennis Cruz for DLSU and Dean of the Graduate School and School of Engineering Professor Tomohide Niimi and Dean of the Graduate School of Environmental Studies Professor Hiroshi Kanzawa, for Nagoya University.
The signing of the MOA was part of a networking mission of the GCOE team composed of Dungca, Cruz, DLSU STC Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pag-asa Gaspillo and GCOE QA Director Dr. Andres Oreta.
DLSU GCOE will explore the PhD sandwich program, short research visits of faculty and graduate students and technical tours as possible activities with Nagoya University.
DLSU GCOE will also explore the possibility of inviting NU to set-up a satellite campus for engineering programs at the Science and Technology Complex.
Since 2001, six of its researchers and professors received Nobel Awards for outstanding research in chemistry and physics.
Likewise, the team conducted networking meetings with key personnel of Meijo University. Among the proposals discussed include short exchange programs, sandwich programs, and short-term technical tours.
Meijo University proposed the entry of its students to DLSU for its new program on Foreign Studies, which aims to develop Meijo University students’ English proficiency and communication, people skills, as well as knowledge on Philippine culture, government, and education.
