PUP students win top prize in Financial Education Congress for the Youth  'U' Can Make a Difference Video Contest


Students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Sta. Mesa, Manila won the first prize in the recently concluded Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Financial Education for the Youth “U” Can Make a Difference Video Contest at the BSP Assembly Hall on 7 December 2015.  
 
 
The award, with a cash prize of P75,000.00 and P20,000.00 worth Sun Life mutual funds, was conferred by BSP Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. (second from right) to PUP entrants (from third from left) Daryl Hannah F. Serrano, Kristelle Faith M. Hael, Jolina M. Lompot and Joanne M. Perez. The quartet from PUP trumped 32 other contestants with their video, “The 8thWonder of the World,” which explained in visual terms the power of compounding, one of the themes of the video competition. Also present during the awarding are (from left): Assistant Governor Johnny Noe E. Ravalo, Deputy Governor Diwa C. Guinigundo and Deputy Governor Nestor A. Espenilla, Jr. (right).
 
Second place went to students from the University of the Philippines, Diliman whose entry, “A Brighter Tomorrow,” underscored the benefits of saving early and saving in banks. Receiving the cash prize of P40,000.00 are Dale U. Lim, Justine F. Nuque, Dea A. Villarosa and Carlos C. Cabaero. 
 
Leslei Ann P. Pilapil and Jaime S. Fernandez of the Ateneo de Manila University Management Economics Organization garnered third place and P25,000.00 with their entry, “I Juana Make a Change,” which emphasized avoiding over-indebtedness and using credit wisely.
